Rumors, rumors, rumors. Reminds me of the 80’s R&B Hit; “Rumors”.
Anyway, according to TechCrunch, there’s a rumor circulating about Google wanting to acquire Twitter; (the original creators of Blogger); for a far north figure or the recently Twitter valuation of $250 million.
Yet, latest updates say that Evan wouldn’t even move on a Billion dollar offer. hmm.. That might have something to do with the fact that MicroSoft isn’t gonna just sit idly by while such a deal is negotiated by their self proclaimed arch rival.
Interesting watching the big boys play in the sand, huh? Wonder how this one is gonna turn out. Hopefully Twitter won’t be too bull headed and shoot themselves in the foot like Yahoo did. (oops)

I just read about this program; (no, I’m not linking to it); that basically combs your archives for old posts and then reposts them. Supposedly, this has been coined, (by some), in the Internet Marketing niche as a way to appease the search engine Gods. ::cough::
Many arguments & opinions can be found regarding this topic; its been something that’s been going on for a while. And if we want to engage in the basic flow of human interpretive thought; we might even be able to argue that newspapers have been doing this for ages… but, there’s a subtle difference..
..as this interesting expat blogger puts it..
“Instead of re-posting, if there’s anything relevant to add why not do a follow-up with a pull quote from the original article and a link back to the original post? Newspapers have been doing something similar for ages.
(a comment posted by Ian on this blog regarding the same topic)
Basically, Ian is the one that initiated this post; (although he has no idea who I am). I had been thinking about doing something along the lines of reposting but didn’t feel comfortable with just blatantly reposting something I’ve already posted… and Ian’s comment made absolute sense to me and solved my dilemma. Thanks, Ian!
I mean, think about it. If you’re blogging then your blog has a theme.. a basic overall subject matter. Whether eclectic or not, there’s some type of logical (or illogical; which is simply anti-logic and still logically based) thought flow. Thus, you’re paying attention to that subject matter enough to have built a blog around it, in the first place.
If that’s the case, then any new information that will come from that subject matter is of importance to you and you’re constantly consuming more and more information on that subject matter.
Right?
So, the new information you have today is in all actuality more information; (updated even); than you had when you made the original post. Therefore, should it not be kinda easy to post something fresh and simply refer back to the original post in the new post?
On a final note, (‘cause now I’m kinda ranting — logically), regarding appeasing the search engine Gods… they’ll actually be happier if you were to add content to the Net instead of redistributing the same stuff without any changes.
So, if you run across that program, (or anything like it), Just Say No!
Cool? cool
peace

Dealing with a Client lately made me think; as this Client has an “IT” contract with me but is continuously asking me questions that are more and more related to “Marketing”. Of course I’m nice about my answers, but I gotta say that in the back of my head I’m saying, “Gee, dude! You hired me for IT not Marketing — maybe I need to charge you more money?”
Yet, it is dawning on me more and more that many of the ‘Marketing’ questions he’s asking me are based on the technology available to him; which can arguably be more than what he’s be privy to normally due to having “me” as his IT consultant. Yet, I think we’re way too early in the new tech game for anyone, (meaning current and/or potential Clients), to recognize that there is a difference between straight IT consulting and IT Marketing consulting.
Not to mention IT Management consulting or IT Accounting consulting or …
Seems the more that IT becomes the mainstream of business, the more the IT Consultant has to know about all the other departments and how they work. hmm.. maybe I should be charging more money!
